Post Conference Analysis

My group was the country of Germany. Our tactic to getting land was to have choices of different places we would like t claim. With these choices, we had a better opportunity to get land that would satisfy us. I think that our group did well in the grab for Africa, because we got to claim one of our top three choices of the land we wanted. The land we decided upon was rich in ivory and a had a little copper. We chose this piece of land as one of our choices because there was excellent farming land as well as wood that could be used for lumber. In our land there is also a major harbor, that will be convenient for ships to make exports from Africa. I think that teh Berlin Conference greatly affected Africa in many negative ways. They completely tore and seperated Africa. I think that the effects of the conference are still present today.

The Scramble for Africa

When I hear the phrase "The Scramble for Africa," I think of European Countries and Imperialism. The Europeans came to Africa and raced against each other to take control of the African Lands. Also, I think of how once they got to Africa, they scrambled to get the good land, and divided the parts of Africa. In this case, enemies of different African tribes were forced to live under the same rule in the same European colonies.

I believe that Europeans became interested in Africa for many reasons. I think that they were interested because of the many available resources they found available in different parts of Africa. Also because of how large Africa is, it was an opportunity to gain more land in their name.

I think that slavery will tear African society apart. It will make them stronger as one and unite different tribes together, but i think that it was have many negative effects on Africa. It will ruin all of the different cultures.
